The truth

Intro

Jessep (colonel in court on the stand): You want answers?
Kaffee (defense lawyer): I think I'm entitled to them.
Jessep: You want answers?
Kaffee: I want the truth!
Jessep: You can't handle the truth!
-From the movie A Few Good Men

Can you handle the truth?

Sometimes the truth is difficult to believe and sometimes a lie is easy to believe. This is how frauds stay in business; they make it easy for you to believe their lies.

If you seek the truth, you must be prepared for the time when you find it. The truth may not be what you expected, and it may be painful. If you are a martial artist, you may find that your master is a fraud; that the person you trusted and looked up to for years has been a liar. You may find the school and/or organization in which you trained for many years, volunteered your time and skills, and in which you spent thousands of dollars has been a total rip-off. You may find your rank is invalid anywhere else.

If the truth is not what you want to hear, you tend to avoid it or reject it since it means you are a victim of a scam. If the truth is what you want to hear, then you have no problem accepting it since it means everything you worked and paid for is legitimate.
"All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident." - Arthur Schopenhauer (1788-1860)
Nobody ever said that the truth would be easy. Somethings the truth is difficult to face. If you don't face it, it will always haunt you. If do face it, no matter the outcome, you will always be able to face yourself in a mirror.

If you can’t handle the truth, maybe you shouldn’t look for it; just be happy in your ignorance.
